One Minute Birdwatching

From August 2012

All art is but imitation of nature

Lucius Annaeus Seneca, 4 BC – AD 65

I don't think Roman philosopher Seneca had this sort of thing in mind when he came up with his famous catchphrase but it neatly sums up this one minute performance piece by Holly Rumble.

The flyer above tells you all you need to know: you turn up at the fountain in West Princes Street Gardens and for a minute you do some birdwatching shouting out the birds' names (strictly speaking their taxonomy but we'll let that go) as you see see them. Sadly all we saw were herring gulls and a couple pigeons although Holly had been told that there were some kestrels nesting in St Cuthbert's Church. Still, good fun.

More shows like this please.
