Kristján Ingimarsson Company
From August 2013
Danish physical theatre ain't exactly my cup of tea but, hey, it's Edinburgh, it's August and I'll go and see anything. (Except those Australian dudes who get their knobs out.) (Actually, I probably would go to see them if anyone else is up for it.)
Anyway, yes, Danish physical theatre. To date my knowledge of the Danish arts oeuvre has been limited to (i) Hans Christian Anderson (ii) Sofie Gråbøl and (iii) Legoland so this was very much a step into the unknown. Thankfully no Danish spoken but be warned, BLAM! is LOUD. But in a good way.
Here's the deal: four office workers get bored with their jobs and to relieve the tedium re-imagine themselves as super heroes and movie stars (I particularly liked the Apocalypse Now sequence). More than that I cannot explain but this show is both spectacular and hilarious; absolute nonsense from start to finish, but it rocks. You'll never look at a ring binder file or listen to AC/DC again without a smile.
This is surely destined to be one of the hits of the festival and would make a great office night out. Except there's only one of me in my office. And I've seen it already ...
BLAM!, Pleasance Courtyard, until 26th August
